Baptism, which consists of dunking someone into a pool of water, is one of the first steps you take to publicly declare your faith in Jesus Christ. It is an outward profession of something God has done and is doing inside of your heart. The water represents a washing away of the old person and the new person you become as a follower of Jesus.

Here are the three key reasons we believe in baptism…
1. Jesus was baptized. Right on the brink of beginning his public ministry, he took this important step. Because Jesus is central to our faith, the fact alone that he was baptized is reason enough for us to want to do the same.
2. Jesus encouraged his disciples and future generations of believers to be baptized and to baptize others as an essential part to their faith.
3. Baptisms have been done for thousands of years. This practice connects us with Christians all around the world from every country with every language and every color and serves as a common thread with our faith.
